ESPN Still Tops ComScore Rankings, But Yahoo-NBC Leads Minutes Per Visitor

ESPN in December posted its 22nd consecutive month leading reach metrics in the comScore multiplatform digital rankings for sports with a total of 83.9 million unique visitors, and its overall consumption total of 7.594 billion minutes also led the category. But the Yahoo Sports-NBC Sports digital alliance, recently renewed for another three years, scored a rare win in average minutes spent per visitor during the month with a total of 103.2, exceeding ESPN’s 90.5. The NFL Internet Group also rose to second in the category in reach with 61.9 million unique visitors. Most of the category, however, declined from November in both reach and consumption metrics, due in part to factors such as the holidays and the end of the ’15 NFL and college football regular seasons and fantasy football season.
