Discussing The Strategy Behind The Dodgers Accelerator With R/GA

This year the Los Angeles Dodgers partnered with R/GA for an accelerator program to help grow ten sport related startup ventures. The program drew a lot of attention from the sports industry as the Dodgers were the first major sports franchise to take on such a venture.

We covered the ten companies in detail and you can see how their time in the accelerator culminated by watching these videos of founders from each company give a demo speech on top of home plate at Dodger Stadium.

With two major brands coming together to form this accelerator there was a lot of natural media and industry attention given to it. But not a lot of information was shared publicly about the day-to-day work, how the ten companies were selected and where they go now that the accelerator is over.

Fortunately for anyone interested in learning more, Anthony Vassallo, Strategy Associate with R/GA for the Dodgers Accelerator, recently agreed to be a guest on the Digital and Social Media Sports Podcast produced by Neil Horowitz, a global expert in the space.

What followed was a little over an hour of an extremely insightful discussion about the accelerator, the state of sports startups today and entrepreneurship in the age of sports technology.

Here are some snippets from the episode and we encourage you to listen to the full podcast and subscribe in iTunes or Stitcher.
