Apparel Maker Majestic Athletic Says Royals Gear In High Demand Following World Series

Majestic Athletic was "prepared for a huge amount of excitement" surrounding the Royals' World Series victory, according to Austin Alonzo of K.C. BUSINESS JOURNAL. But Majestic VP & GM of MLB Business Chuck Strom said that the company was "surprised at how strong the demand is" for Royals apparel. Strom: "The demand has been phenomenal. The Royals are good for business." Although Strom could not disclose specific information, he "estimated that Majestic is getting at least twice as many orders" as in '14, when the Royals lost to the Giants in the World Series. Strom said that the best-selling items "are the T-shirts and sweaters the players wore in the clubhouse to celebrate their victories," such as the gray "Champs" shirts they donned after clinching the series in Game 5. Demand is "also high" for the "Thanks Kansas City" and "Thanks Royals" shirts. Strom said that "no one player is leading" in jersey sales, though "demand is highest" for 1B Eric Hosmer, 3B Mike Moustakas, C Salvador Perez, SS Alcides Escobar, CF Lorenzo Cain, the starting rotation and closer Wade Davis (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/5).
