Changing Lanes: Jason Dial Leaving As Circuit Of The Americas CEO After Two Years

Circuit of the Americas CEO JASON DIAL has left the track after two years on the job. Dial, who saw the track through three F1 weekends, confirmed the news in a phone conversation with SBD Global. Dial led the purpose-built F1 circuit, which gave its debut on the F1 calendar in ‘12, through what he called a "challenging environment." Before joining COTA in '13, Dial served as Buccaneers CMO and P&G Dir of Global Sports Marketing. Dial in '09 was named to SBD/SBJ's Forty Under 40 list. He said he will take a look at the NFL for his next career opportunity, but is also open to other top sports exec jobs. Dial: “I don’t necessarily think there’s any first choice” (HJ Mai, SBD Global). In Austin, Sean Shapiro notes COTA last month "struggled to deal with stormy weather during the fourth U.S. Grand Prix weekend." Attendance dropped "for the fourth straight year, a result of the dreary weather and the addition to the Formula One schedule of the Mexican Grand Prix last weekend in Mexico City." Dial took over in '13 for STEVE SEXTON (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 11/4).
