Omni Releases Plans For Hotel Located Next To Cowboys' New Frisco Development

The Omni Frisco Hotel will "serve as a cornerstone" for the new Ford Center at The Star complex that will house the Cowboys' team HQ, according to David Humphrey of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. The 300-room, 16-story hotel is set to open the summer of '17 and will have a "rooftop pool bar and grill, sketches of Cowboys' Ring of Honor members, and 24,000 square feet of meeting space." The whole Star complex is "scheduled to open in the summer of 2016 for the end of training camp and on time for the start of the high school football season" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 11/4). In Dallas, Karen Robinson-Jacobs reported the Omni "will be a 50-50 partnership" between the family of Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones and the Dallas-based hotel chain. This will be one of two hotels Omni is building that will "involve a professional sports team." The hope is that partnership with the Cowboys and the Braves in Atlanta "will help boost the brand's visibility beyond the regular consumer base for its 60 hotels and resorts." Among the features in the Frisco hotel is that "stitching in some of the guest room furniture will give a nod to the stitching of a football" (DALLASNEWS.com, 11/3). Jones yesterday said that the The Star will be the "first destination-type development of its kind to bring the Cowboys brand to life for fans" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/3).
