Former Big East Commissioner Mike Tranghese Joins Providence College Basketball Program

Former Big East Commissioner MIKE TRANGHESE is "set to begin a job as senior advisor for basketball at Providence College," according to Kevin McNamara of the PROVIDENCE JOURNAL. Tranghese first worked at PC from '72-79, when he "led publicity efforts" for the school's basketball team. Asked just what he will do for the program, Tranghese "was purposefully vague." PC AD BOB DRISCOLL said that Tranghese’s previous commissioner experience "can help PC on a range of subjects, from scheduling to the conference’s network television relationship with Fox Sports and the school’s plans for a Friar Development Complex." McNamara notes that project "will help the basketball program join the rest of the Big East with its own practice facility." Tranghese, who is also a member of the selection committee for the CFP, said that he will "leave the football selection committee at the end of this season and will have more time to devote to his role" at PC (PROVIDENCE JOURNAL, 10/27).
