Tickets To Mets' World Series Home Games Costliest Of All Time On Secondary Market

Ticket resale services said that seats for Games 3-5 of the World Series at Citi Field are "currently the costliest in baseball history -- with an average price of $1,667.82," according to Colangelo & McShane of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. TiqIQ Dir of Data & Operations Chris Matcovich said, "They are slightly more expensive than the Red Sox in 2013. The biggest reasons, I’d say, are the 15 years since their last appearance and the New York market." Colangelo & McShane note tickets in Fenway Park "averaged $1,660.96 for the Series two years ago." The average StubHub seat for this year's Game 4 on Halloween night "was $1,015, although the least expensive was slightly less at $625." StubHub Communications Manager Cameron Papp said that the volume of available tickets "could benefit buyers as the first pitch nears" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/23). In New Jersey, John Brennan notes there are a "limited number of standing-room-only tickets for games at Citi Field, but prices for those were about on par with the prices for seats in the highest reaches of the upper deck." TiqIQ found that the cheapest standing-room ticket for Game 3 next Friday "was $764 while the cheapest seat was $767" (Bergen RECORD, 10/23). The Mets will play either the Blue Jays or Royals, and SeatGeek Content Analyst Chris Leyden said that tickets for a possible World Series Game 1 in Toronto "could be had for as low as $436." The "cheapest ticket in Kansas City" was $675 (NEWSDAY, 10/23).

BLUE JAY WAY: In Toronto, Jillian Kestler-D’Amours notes Blue Jays World Series tickets sold out "less than an hour after they went on sale" Thursday morning. Prices "ranged from $160 to $1,400 a seat, the costliest of any Jays’ playoff tickets so far this season." Fans could "buy up to four seats at a time online and by phone." At 11:15am ET. the cost for a 500-level ticket for Game 1 on StubHub "would set you back at least $365, while 100-level seats were going for a minimum of $690 each." Seats behind home plate in a possible Game 7 will "cost you $12,000 -- per ticket" (TORONTO STAR, 10/23).
