Astros SS Carlos Correa Signs With Topps For Rookie's First Endorsement Deal

Astros SS Carlos Correa and Topps have signed an agreement that "will include the company’s first venture into autographed memorabilia," according to David Barron of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Topps officials said that the "multi-year contract totaling more than a million dollars" will enable the company "to sell Correa autographed jerseys, bats, balls and wall art in addition to signed cards." Correa’s signed cards "will appear exclusively in Topps products" (CHRON.com, 8/26). BECKETT.com's Chris Olds noted the memorabilia "will be sold on Topps.com" (BECKETT.com, 8/26). Frankie Higginbotham, Correa's agent, said the contract gives the rookie "elite status" with Topps. Higginbotham: "It's the first time that Topps has put the attention on having the exclusive rights of a player for trading cards. ... This is his first and only endorsement deal up to now. So this is his first venture as a Major League player" (FOX26HOUSTON.com, 8/25).
