World Series Of Beach Volleyball Praised For "Rowdy" Crowds In Long Beach

Players and organizers of the FIVB Asics World Series of Beach Volleyball at Alamitos Beach "were unanimous in their praise of one thing: the crowd," according to Mike Guardabascio of the Long Beach PRESS-TELEGRAM. Spanish player Pablo Herrera said, "It's crazy, it's amazing here." Brazilian competitor Bruno Oscar Schmidt said, "The fans here really know the sport, really appreciate the sport. I want us to play more tournaments here." Guardabascio notes the fans "were rowdy and loud all weekend, fired up to music by DJ Irie and live performances from Adam Lambert and American Authors, among others." The WSOBV "will return to Long Beach next year," which is not surprising "given how satisfied the competitors were with the packed crowd." The announcement "drew a big cheer from the crowd." Next year's event will take place "the weekend after" the Rio Games conclude (Long Beach PRESS-TELEGRAM, 8/24).
