Leather And Laces: JH Design Gets NFL License For High-End Products

L.A.-based JH Design Group secured an NFL license to make adult men’s and women’s high-end leather and wool outerwear in various styles. The jackets will have individual NFL team logos and names. What distinguishes the contract from the traditional league license is JH will donate to the Retired NFL Players Congress a percentage of net sales each month. The Players Congress will then distribute the entire amount of the donation to former players in need of financial assistance through a process managed by the organization in conjunction with the league’s Player Care Foundation. The arrangement was brokered by former NFLer Bob Grant, who founded the Congress last year under the theory that former players should try to make their own money rather than, in his words, “beg” from or sue the owners. While JH many years ago was an NFL licensee, it had not been for some time. It is currently a jacket licensee of MLB, NHL, NBA and NASCAR. A league spokesperson confirmed that Grant deserved the credit for bringing JH to the NFL.
