Western & Southern Open On Pace To Draw Record Attendance For Fifth Straight Year

The ATP/WTA Western & Southern Open, part of the Emirates Airline U.S. Open Series, has "topped last year's record-setting attendance marks in each of the first seven sessions," according to Steve Watkins of the CINCINNATI BUSINESS COURIER. Tournament Dir of Marketing & Communications Will Sikes said that the event, which has seen attendance increases each of the past four years, is "already tracking" 4% ahead of last year's total of 191,752. He added that while a 4% increase "is conservative for the rest of the tournament," even that would put the total attendance "on the cusp of 200,000 fans." Tuesday's total attendance for the day and night sessions of 25,898 fans "set an all-time single-day tournament record, beating last year's record by 212" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/19).
