NFL Franchise Notes: Texans' Bob McNair Pleased With Team's Debut On "Hard Knocks"

In Houston, Dale Robertson reported Texans Owner Bob McNair is "glad" the team agreed to appear on HBO's "Hard Knocks" following the debut episode last Tuesday. McNair said, "I thought it was great. ... I think it's good for our brand, our team and our coaches. The national media people look at ratings and what they draw. If people aren't as familiar with you, you're not going to be as popular. The more familiar you are, the bigger draw you're going to be" (CHRON.com, 8/13).

WE CAN WORK IT OUT: In St. Louis, Jim Thomas reports Rams Owner Stan Kroenke and the NFL "have reached a resolution" on his cross-ownership issue. NFL rules "prohibit club owners from owning" NBA, NHL, or MLB teams in other markets that have NFL teams. But Kroenke "finally has submitted a plan" that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell "indicated should meet league approval, the details of which were not known" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 8/14).

SHINY HAPPY PEOPLE? In DC, Thom Loverro writes as the Redskins "wind up their third training camp in Richmond, one has to wonder if anybody is happy with the arrangement." Loverro: "Are the people in Richmond, whose tax dollars are being used to subsidize the Redskins' training camp ... happy?" Loverro also asks if Redskins fans are happy after "another embarrassing visit from a team to Richmond," when the Texans last week "literally beat up the Redskins so bad the coaches called off the dual practices." Loverro: "Are the Redskins themselves happy?" (WASHINGTON TIMES, 8/14).
