Revenue From New Club At Doak Campbell Stadium Will Help Fund Other Renovations

The new 6,000-seat Champions Club section at Florida State's Doak Campbell Stadium has over 100,000 square feet of rentable space and will become "one of the largest conference centers in the area," allowing the school to "generate revenue year-round" from the space, according to Jim Henry of the TALLAHASSEE DEMOCRAT. The new space also will "allow club seat holders to plan a weekend football experience." Revenues generated from the club will help "fund the other renovations" at the stadium. Data from Seminole Boosters, Inc. shows that "more than 2,000 club seats have been pre-sold in the indoor-outdoor section." The project has already brought in $6M in prepaid cash, with $12.8M "pledged to the project over the next five years." This new club section in the south end zone "will offer experiences on as many as five levels and allow club seat holders to experience game day from different vantage points without losing sight of the field." The first phase of construction on the club "has started and will include a pair of elevator and stair towers" leading to the "more than 70,000 square feet of air conditioned club space and 34,000 square feet of covered rooftop terraces." At the conclusion of the '15 season, demolition "will continue" to the south end zone stands and construction of the main structure of the Champions Club. Seminole Boosters, Inc. "hired national architects who have gone to extreme lengths to make sure the Champions Club was designed to allow for existing connections to the stadium as well as to plan for future changes in the stadium bowl and concourses." Meanwhile, repairs to the east and west stands, which began this summer, "will ramp up" after the season. FSU also is "looking to install a large, state-of-the-art scoreboard in the north end zone" (TALLAHASSEE DEMOCRAT, 8/12).
