Raptors Ambassador Drake Helps Unveil Team's New Jerseys At OVO Fest In Toronto

Rapper Drake, the Raptors' global ambassador, yesterday "introduced the world to one of the new Raptor jerseys at his OVO Fest concert," according to Ryan Wolstat of the TORONTO SUN. The team's rebrand "includes one colour scheme featuring his OVO black and gold colours, which he was wearing." The new jerseys "no longer have Toronto written across the front, replaced by Raptors, emphasizing that this is all of Canada's team." The front of the waistband "also features a maple leaf." Toronto "is still represented by T.O. on the shorts." The rest of the redesign includes a "white home jersey with red trim, a red away with black and a black with red away alternate." Each of the shorts "feature the new basketball logo with claw marks." The team said that the font "was inspired by the wildly successful We the North campaign, which was created by the Sid Lee ad agency which also was in charge of the redesign" (TORONTO SUN, 8/4). The CP noted Canada's national colors of red and white "remain the main focus, while black and silver continue to feature in the trim." The Raptors also will "sport two alternate black uniforms." A version with red, silver and white trim "will return, joined by a special alternate featuring gold and white trim." The jerseys have "several features that continue the north theme, including chevrons on the side of the jersey that now point north instead of downward" (CP, 8/3).
