Browns Owner: Team's Win-Loss Record In '15 Will Not Affect Future Of Pettine, Farmer

Browns Owner Jimmy Haslam III on Saturday said that the team's win-loss record in '15 "will not affect the future" of coach Mike Pettine or GM Ray Farmer, according to Pat McManamon of ESPN.com. Haslam: "We're on the right track, so we're not going to blow things up." He added, "We're putting in place a good foundation" (ESPN.com, 8/2). In Cleveland, Tom Reed noted Haslam "offered a resounding endorsement" of Pettine and Farmer. Haslam "delivered a strong declaration," and he "didn't couch his sentiment during follow-up questions." Although he "probably should have allowed for some wiggle room," his support "is not misguided particularly as it applies to Pettine." The Browns "need continuity." Haslam's overall message "was the right one." Reed: "Just remember nothing said in August is binding in January" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 8/2).
