Here Comes The Sun: Solar Company Sunrun Signs Sponsorship Deal With Yankees

Solar company Sunrun this week expanded its MLB portfolio, partnering with the Yankees in a deal that stretches through the ’17 season. The deal makes S.F.-based Sunrun the official residential solar company of the Yankees, providing the brand signage near the visiting team’s on-deck circle at Yankee Stadium, digital signage and entitlement of the ballpark’s terrace rooftop deck. Sunrun also will be featured in social media activations throughout the deal’s length and have kiosks at select Yankees games for fans to gather more information. Sunrun designs, installs, insures and maintains home solar systems to reduce electricity costs. Noting the Yankees’ broad national reach, Sunrun Senior Corporate Communications Manager Andrew Pontti in an e-mail wrote the partnership will allow Sunrun to “connect with more homeowners in New York and across the country” to show the benefits of using solar. Financial terms were not available for the deal, which begins immediately. Pontti noted that the brand also has a partnership with the Padres that was signed earlier this summer. He added that the company hopes to sign deals with other MLB teams in the near future.
