Look Out For The Picket Fence: Pacers To Wear "Hoosiers"-Inspired Jerseys This Season

The Pacers today announced they have agreed to a deal with MGM Studios in which the team will wear jerseys inspired by the movie "Hoosiers" the next several seasons. The jerseys, which celebrate the film's 30th anniversary, will be part of the NBA Pride Collection. Games that the Pacers will wear the jerseys will be announced at a later date (Pacers). In Chicago, Kyle Thele writes the Pacers' "new 'old' jerseys will have a very distinct look to them." They also will "give fans another opportunity to buy more apparel" (SUNTIMES.com, 7/21). NBCSPORTS.com's Dan Feldman writes the uniforms are "awesome and ridiculous, but even if they’re ridiculous, I love them." This is the "type of idea fans have but teams dismiss out of hand." Feldman: "We know the uniforms are a great look. We just don’t know whether they’re a great look for an NBA team, especially because that team is copying a movie. But I’ll give the Pacers the benefit of the doubt. Props to the Pacers for pushing the envelope" (NBCSPORTS.com, 7/21). WKYT-CBS's Lee Howard wrote, "As a Pacers' fan, I strongly approve!" CNN's Rachel Nichols wrote, "This. Is. Excellent" (TWITTER.com, 7/21).
