Overnight Ratings: ESPN's British Open Sunday Figure Flat Despite Rain Delay

ESPN drew a 2.6 overnight rating for yesterday's coverage of the British Open from 9:00am-2:45pm ET, which featured the third round of the event after rain earlier in the tourney forced a delay. West Palm Beach led all markets with a 4.5 local rating. Despite coverage on Sunday only showing the third round, it is flat compared to the Sunday telecast of the final round last year, which saw Rory McIlroy complete a wire-to-wire victory, winning by two strokes over Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia. Meanwhile, ABC's British Open highlight coverage on Saturday and Sunday was the highest-rated sports programming on English-language broadcast TV over the weekend.

The chart below lists overnight ratings from weekend sports telecasts on broadcast TV.
