New Univ. Of South Florida Football Marketing Campaign Uses Tagline "Bulls Unite"

A new marketing campaign for the Univ. of South Florida football team "kicks off this month, aimed at driving more alumni, students and fans to Raymond James Stadium" for the '15 season, according to Justine Griffin of the TAMPA BAY TIMES. The tagline on billboards, in print ads and on TV and radio spots is "Bulls Unite," and the campaign "features a USF football player, adorned in the school's signature green and gold garb, running through the Florida woods." In some versions, cheerleaders and band members "follow him," while in others, he is "running to the staccato beat of a drum line." USF Creative Dir Mike Nolasco said, "We wanted to create something that was epic, that showed a sense of battle but was different from what you normally see in sports team ads." Griffin noted billboards "can already be spotted around busy Tampa Bay area thoroughfares," and a 30-second video "launched on the USF Bulls' Facebook page this week." USF's football attendance from '10 to '14 has "dropped by more than 10,000" per game (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 7/15).
