McDavid earlier this month signed an
endorsement deal with CCM Hockey
Upper Deck has entered an exclusive trading card deal with Connor McDavid, whom the Oilers took with the No. 1 overall pick in the '15 NHL Draft. The deal allows Upper Deck to be the sole provider of McDavid-autographed cards, which will be inserted into the company's NHL trading card releases. In addition, the company will have the ability to feature McDavid on product packaging. The deal also allows Upper Deck to partner with McDavid on promo opportunities (Upper Deck). In Boston, Fluto Shinzawa noted McDavid signed with CCM Hockey earlier this month. Meanwhile, it is "possible" that Jack Eichel, the No. 2 overall pick in the Draft by the Sabres, will "announce his decision to go pro in concert with a sponsorship deal" (BOSTON GLOBE, 6/28).

EURO TRIP: WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY's Joelle Diderich reported Thunder G Russell Westbrook "made a personal appearance at Colette on Friday to unveil his debut shoe for Jordan Brand and tout the Paris concept store’s collaboration with his eyewear label, Westbrook Frames." Westbrook said that the "eagerly awaited Jordan Westbrook 0 ... would retail for around $125." He has "been chronicling the Milan and Paris men's shows for Vanity Fair's Web site" (WWD.com, 6/27).

FIRST-PERSON STRIKER: In DC, Marissa Payne wrote Nike's "brilliant new ad released Saturday ... gets an A-plus for creativity." The ad allows fans to see what it might look like from La Liga club FC Barcelona F Neymar's perspective to "execute a perfect rainbow flick over his opponent's head." Consumers "don't just watch" the ad, but they "interact with it." When you move a mobile device "left, right, up or down, your view shifts." On a desktop, consumers can use their cursor and mouse to "look around to see what Neymar might see in this situation" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 6/27).

FINAL FANTASY: In N.Y., Bill Madden reported neither MLB players nor anyone working in MLB is "permitted to engage in DraftKings’ baseball fantasy operation," despite the league's partnership with the company. A source said, "In terms of growing the game among young people, baseball’s association with DraftKings makes sense. But at the same, you’re talking about people betting on players every day and, in that respect, baseball’s stance against gambling, if not hypocritical, at the very least becomes blurred" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/28).
