TrainHeroic Makes Exercising A Motivating Competition

One of the hardest things about sticking to a workout program is staying motivated. But a new app is hoping to help an athlete or anyone looking to get in shape by turning their exercise regimens into competition and thus, remain motivated.

TrainHeroic is a new online training program that allows participants to track their workouts in real time and update results. This gives the users more engagement in their workouts as communication with their fellow athletes. TrainHeroic, whose slogan is “Train, Track, Compete” has partnered with more than one hundred high schools and 50,000 individual athletes to provide them with an engaging workout program tailored for their specific sport or event.

The premiere feature of the TrainHeroic system is the leaderboard, which updates in real-time as the athlete completes his or hers workout. The leaderboard shows each member of the group’s progression through the training program and ranks them based on the quality of their workout.

“The leaderboard allows us to communicate a coach’s program to the team and work on the communication between teammates,” said TrainHeroic co-founder, Josh Sutchar. “If you’re doing something, you don’t always know how well you’re doing compared to your teammates. TrainHeroic gives you a live, in-gym experience that updates in real time.”

The app also allows coaches to track the progress of a team or an individual athlete, and also separate the group by class or position. This lets a coach sit down with an athlete and discuss with them what they’re doing well and where they need to improve.

Sutchar also said that the most important role for coaches is to, “be more successful with their athletes”.

“Athlete motivation and engagement is the number one goal. Making the workout fun and competitive is what’s most important.”

In March of this year, TrainHeroic launched its marketplace, where coaches and individuals can buy and sell their own workout plans. This way, if a coach isn’t an expert on conditioning or weight training, they can reach out to an expert to help.

In the marketplace, the coach or trainer sets the price for their workout program, and gets 70 per-cent of the profits. Workouts are also editable, so if a gym doesn’t have a particular piece of equipment or room to do an exercise, they can make a substitution via the app.

Co-Founder of TrainHeroic Jay Crookston referred to the variety of the marketplace and the ability to reach out to an expert as one of TrainHeroic’s greatest features.

“It’s so flexible, it’s fun to see what people do with it. People want to use it for specific position training or nutrition, and while the platform wasn’t built for that, it still works out.”

Currently Trainheroic is available for web-based platforms as well as iOS devices, and an Andriod app is currently slated for a release in August.
