Sporting Innovations Fires CEO Pasha, Files Suit Alleging Theft Of Trade Secrets

Sporting Innovations last week "fired co-founder and co-CEO ASIM PASHA, accusing him and his son, ZAIN, of using company resources to secretly plot the formation of a competing company," according to James Dornbrook of the K.C. BUSINESS JOURNAL. Sporting Innovations in its complaint accused Asim and Zain Pasha of "not returning laptop computers belonging to the company that could contain substantial trade secrets and other confidential information." The company also alleged that the Pashas "misused a company credit card to incur tens of thousands of dollars in personal expenses and refused to provide documentation and receipts for that spending." Sporting Innovation further alleged that the Pashas were "discussing the formation of a competing company called Knowledge Works" with N.Y.-based consulting firm Vernalis. The company accused the pair of "deleting 'significant volumes' of emails and chats that would have shown their covert scheme." Zain Pasha in March "resigned" from Sporting Innovations, "refusing to conduct an exit interview and failing to return a Sporting Innovations-owned laptop." Asim Pasha also has "failed to return his company-owned laptop after his termination on June 16." Sporting Innovations "seeks damages, to be determined at trial and other relief the court deems proper." The company also "wants enforcement of one-year noncompete clauses Asim and Zain Pasha signed before being employed by Sporting Innovations and repayment of salaries during the period they allegedly breached their employment contracts" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 6/22).
