FanDuel Continues To Strengthen NBA Ties, Signing 13 Teams To Multiyear Deals

Daily fantasy sports operator FanDuel has signed exclusive multiyear partnerships with 13 NBA teams, deepening its ties within basketball following an exclusive league-level NBA deal signed last fall and continuing an arms race with rival player DraftKings for sports sponsorships. The new set of multiyear NBA team deals succeed one-year pacts the N.Y.-based FanDuel held with seven teams during the ’14-15 season. The new agreements provide FanDuel with a wide range of online and offline assets, including in-arena signage and cross-platform media inventory. FanDuel will also develop a range of exclusive prizes and offers for fans, including exclusive team meet-and-greets and VIP road trips. The new set of agreements also extends a rapid maturation for the NBA in the daily fantasy category. In less than 10 months, the NBA has opened up the daily fantasy category to teams on a one-year basis following a prior ban, signed a four-year league deal of its own with FanDuel that included an equity stake, and now expanded team rights to allow for longer-term deals. The NBA deals also follow a flurry of activity in which FanDuel over the past two months signed similar agreements with 16 NFL teams. “Partnering with these NBA organizations has been an incredible asset to FanDuel’s growth and business,” said FanDuel CEO & co-Founder Nigel Eccles.
