Recon Jet Launches Smart Nutrition App For Athletes

Dehydration is no longer going to be an issue for athletes, according to Refuel, which is the new smart nutrition app created by Recon Jet Smart Eyewear. Recon Instruments, founded in 2008, is known for their implementations of state of the art technology and android based operating systems in their eyewear. In Vancouver, Canada on June 3, 2015 Recon announced that they will be releasing a sports nutrition app named Refuel. The app was developed in partnership with Vega co-founder Brendan Brazier, and will be available as a free app for all Recon eyewear customers via Recon App Center.

According to Recon, the app will be accessible through the lens of Recon Instruments. Refuel will alert the consumer on Jet Smart’s display, which will be located right below the athlete’s right eye which will be reportedly distinguishable. While the athlete is in motion, Refuel will also notify the individual about their exercise output, calories burned, and will then proceed to suggest when the athlete should rehydrate and recuperate.

Brendan Brazier and Tyson Miller, VP of Consumer Products at Recon both shared their views on the collaborative app. First, Miller stated that Brazier and himself created Refuel for two reasons. “First, as athletes, we both know how easy it is to bonk or become dehydrated during activities… Second, we wanted to test drive Recon’s new software development kit(SDK) before its public release. Refuel was developed using that SDK, which has allowed us to tweak and improve the kit ahead of its public release,” adds Miller. Brazier later exclaims that fuel and hydration by knowing what to eat and drink is needed for athletes to maximize their potential. “Fuel and hydration needs will change based on the intensity and duration of a workout…Refuel makes those assessments and advises athletes accordingly. Additionally, Refuel offers a form of mental outsourcing, “reiterates Brazier.

Essentially, Refuel is aiming to provide convenience to all athletes when it pertains to hydrating and replenishing their bodies. Whether it is running, hiking, or biking Refuels goal is to conveniently assist the athlete with eyewear that can formulate refueling suggestions for the athlete’s needs.

All jokes aside, if Recon could be one day approved in the NBA they would have two reliable customers in LeBron James and Matthew Dellavedova who have each respectively had their troubles with cramps and dehydration in this years NBA Finals.
