HEAR ME ROAR: USL club Louisville City FC GM AMANDA DUFFY is "one of two" female GMs in the league and "one of a handful of women" to earn the title with a men's pro soccer franchise in the U.S. Duffy is "navigating the pressures that come with launching a brand new franchise," as well as "the weight of being a woman in a position few women have held before" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 6/14)....JENNIFER LUTE COSTELLA, who blogs about advanced hockey analytics, said that NHL teams have "expressed interest in her work." HEART OF A LION: THE MMQB's Jenny Vrentas notes former SI Senior Editor SANDY PADWE is retiring after spending "more than two decades as a professor at Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism." Vrentas, one of Padwe's students at the school, writes he "singlehandedly made sure sports journalism was taken seriously at Columbia" (MMQB.SI.com, 6/15).

COURT REPORT: Former ECHL Utah Grizzlies medical assistant OSCAR JOHNSON will "plead guilty to one of the 27 counts he faced when he was indicted in September," related to the death of late NHLer DEREK BOOGAARD. The count "involves a single prescription for Percocet written by Johnson" to former Grizzlies player JORDAN HART, who allegedly "sold some of those pills to Boogaard" (N.Y. TIMES, 6/13).
