This App Provides Workout Motivation With Cross-Device Fitness Competition

Keeping fit with a friend or an entire group helps keep individuals motivated and on track to meet their goals.  Sometimes, a little friendly competition helps, too.

Today, Matchup released a mobile web-based app that inspires both community and competitive fitness via a smartphone.  Matchup users will not have to text, instant message or even call their friends to find out how many steps they’ve taken in a day, week or month.  With the Matchup Challenge, all users need to do is check their friends list.  Matchup even connects with any fitness tracker so friends don’t need to have the same tracking device.

With MatchUp users can join a challenge or create their own using a variety of modes.  Adventurous users can even participate in Matchup’s Multi-Challenge modes.  Streaks mode allows users to see they are meeting their goals by keeping track of successful challenges.  In Head-to-Head Challenge, Matchup will pair users with different opponents every day and track stats and standings, just like in a real sports league.

For competitors who like to be number one, Leaderboard helps users test their fitness limits and motivates users to get to the top of the leaderboard by pushing themselves beyond those limits.  In Team Mode, users choose their own teams to compete in the Community.  Take a trip to your favorite destination and complete a fitness challenge expedition in Journey mode.

Inviting friends to Matchup Challenges is quick and easy.  Users can send and receive invitations from their Matchup friends already competing in a challenge.  Just hit the friend request icon and type either their name or username.  Users can then view select friend profile details such as username, region, device and daily steps.  Users can compare activity with friends and even filter it by daily, weekly, monthly or overall steps.  Now that’s motivation.

Matchup’s dashboard allows users to easily check stats for the day with the use of simple graphics to display data.  Users can even see how friends are doing in each fitness challenge.  Matchup challenges can be organized in current, pending and archived categories.

Matchup has cross device compatibility with Fitbit, Jawbone and Withings, with these iOS apps coming soon – Misfit, Garmin, Moves app and Apple Healthkit.
