ABC's Indy 500 Telecast Draws Best Viewership Since '12, With 7% Jump From Last Year

ABC averaged 6.39 million viewers for Juan Pablo Montoya's win at the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday afternoon from 12:15-3:51pm ET, marking the race's best audience since '12, when it averaged 6.8 million viewers. Viewership also rose 7% from last year's 6.06 million viewers and 11% from the race's record-low 5.74 million viewers in '13. ABC drew 8.26 million viewers for Montoya's last Indy 500 win in '00. The telecast on Sunday peaked during the final half hour of the race with 7.3 million viewers. Indianapolis' 12.7 local rating for the race telecast -- which remains on tape delay in the market -- was down from a 12.9 rating last year, but up from a 9.3 rating in '13.
