My Morning Jacket: Yasiel Puig Starring In New Ad Campaign For Starter

Dodgers RF Yasiel Puig is starring in the new "Jackets Required" ad campaign for Iconix Brand Group's Starter division, "following in the footsteps" of Cavaliers F Kevin Love, according to Khanh Tran of WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY. Puig will "carry the campaign that will run in the print issues of ESPN The Magazine and Sports Illustrated," as well as online at ESPN.com, BleacherReport.com and SBNation.com. Other magazines such as Complex, Details and GQ "will receive both print and online placements." Puig was drawn to Starter, saying through an interpreter, "I saw the jackets and I saw they were different than any other thing that I've seen out there. I've seen other athletes have worn them. So I liked the opportunity." Puig defected from Cuba in '12, and Tran noted his Latin American roots "could help Iconix as it tries to spark sales for Starter in Brazil, Japan and the Middle East from its current base in the U.S. and Europe" (WWD.com, 5/20).
