While fans at the sold-out Avaya Stadium watched their team win the home opener against the Chicago Fire this March, 256 GB of data was being transmitted through the stadium’s 170 wireless access points.
The 18,000 capacity Avaya Stadium is one of the most technologically advanced in the world. Its features allow the European-styled venue to provide an immersive and convenient experience to fans.
Located near the San Jose airport, Avaya Stadium is the first cloud-enabled venue in Major League Soccer. And with a cloud comes an app. Avaya Stadium’s app is available for both Android and iOS and you can connect to it on the aptly named GOQUAKES wireless network which covers the entire area of the stadium. It is also Apple Watch compatible for all of you early adopters.
The app will allow fans to use Ticketmaster’s ticketing platform for entry at the gate, see stadium and parking maps, search stadium amenities and driving routes, and provide fans with player information and team fixtures.
“We wanted to build an app that would complement the fan experience at Avaya Stadium,” said ArcTouch Founder Adam Fingerman. “Through this app, you can manage your season tickets, follow the buzz on social media, locate all the stadium amenities and much more. We are proud to partner with the Earthquakes to deliver this app to their fans.”
And keeping with the spirit of San Jose, the stadium’s parking lot houses enough solar panels to make the stadium zero-energy on game days.
There is an incredible amount of technology housed within Avaya stadium, here are a few more features:
- There are more LED lights than in any stadium of its size
- It has the third largest video board in the league
- Video board is dual sided for viewing parties
- There are numerous 80 inch vertical TVs throughout the concourse displaying social media content
- There is a solar panel charging station for fans to charge their phones located in the two-acre 7UP Epicenter fan zone
- Fans can pay for parking with their credit cards
And if you are not a soccer fan, or the Quakes are having a bad game, fear not. The north end zone has a two acre fan zone with the largest outdoor bar in North America.
As advanced as Avaya stadium is now, it is still in its infancy and there will be more technology packed into this state-of-the-art stadium in the future.
