ACC's Swofford Would Like To Expand CFP To Eight, But Content With Four-Team Format

ACC Commissioner John Swofford on Thursday said that he "does not believe the College Football Playoff will expand from four teams to eight any time soon," although he added that he would "like to see it happen," according to Matt Porter of the PALM BEACH POST. Swofford: “In a perfect world and a purely football sense, I thought eight was a really good number. ... I think we’re at four for all the right reasons." Meanwhile, Swofford "remained coy about the ACC’s ongoing exploration of a stand-alone cable network with television partner ESPN." He said, “We’ve got a ways to go, but we’re pleased with where we are in our process." He added that revealing details of negotiations "doesn’t suit the league." Swofford also said that ACC schools are "'interested' in playing overseas." He "hinted that games in Europe -- across several sports -- could be a possibility" (PALM BEACH POST, 5/15).
