On Deck Digital Gives Players, Coaches and Scouts A Tech Advantage

Let’s be honest, baseball isn’t the most exciting sport out there. It could be pretty dull from time to time. Don’t get me wrong, I love baseball just as much as much as the next guy, but I know it’s not for everyone. For those of us fortunate enough to enjoy the sport, there is a new piece of technology that will take our viewing experience to a whole new level.

On Deck Digital” is an application that allows users to create and edit highlights, upload them to their cloud, and share them with friends and family across different social media platforms. It also allows users to select different camera angles and slow down the speed of the video while editing clips.

Coaches would find this app useful during practice. By filming their players and uploading their videos to this application, not only will they be able to fix errors within swinging motions, but they will also be able to correct mechanical deficiencies in pitching motions. The slow motion feature of this application allows coaches to pick these up with ease. Scouts would also be able to use this application as it could help them take their evaluations of players a bit deeper and ultimately find better prospects quicker.

This application works on the opposite side of the spectrum as well. As a player, you want to make sure that your highlight video shows you in the best light possible. By using this app, players will be able to easily create and edit their highlight tape from different angles and share them amongst friends, family and coaches. They could also use this app to scout their opponent and prepare themselves accordingly.

Although this is app is primarily used for players and coaches, it just may be the tip of the iceberg for this application. “NFL Redzone” has already done a nice job of condensing various games and broadcasting the most climactic parts. If baseball were to follow in the footsteps of this broadcasting strategy then they would be able to potentially attract a larger audience and bring a new dynamic viewing experience to baseball games. The MLB has been in a slump when it comes to popularity and this application might have laid the groundwork for an innovative new way to increase their fan base.

The length of games in the MLB has been a major issue for the league. By editing game clips and broadcasting the most important moments of the game, the MLB would greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to watch a game and fans would be able to watch multiple games effortlessly and pick and choose when to watch their favorite players.
