Buyers & Sellers: Mayweather Buys Las Vegas High-Rise Unit For $1.81M

Boxer FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. paid $1.81M for a 3,142-square-foot 55th-floor high-rise unit at the Palms Place in Las Vegas, which includes a "telescoping glass wall that separates a living room and a game/billiards room." An infinity-edge spa "extends off of a private balcony toward the Vegas skyline" (LATIMES.com, 5/1). Meanwhile, Mayweather "may be having a hard time selling his" $1.999M Miami penthouse. It has "seen some price reductions since last July," when it was listed at $2.599M. It was listed at $1.5M in '10 (CHRON.com, 5/5).

PASSING THE TORCH: MLSE President & CEO TIM LEIWEKE bought a home in Brentwood, Calif., that was "sold off-market in March" by golfer FRED COUPLES. Leiweke paid $5.815M for the Spanish Colonial Revival-style home, with negotiated furnishings "pushing that total" to $6.014M. The gated home "has a grand foyer, a step-down living room, a center-island kitchen, a library, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in nearly 5,700 square feet." The landscaped grounds "contain a loggia, an outdoor living room, a fireplace and a pool with a spa." Couples in '12 "purchased the property" from former Clippers coach MIKE DUNLEAVY (LATIMES.com, 5/6).

REALTOR ROUNDUP: NBA free agent C JAVALE MCGEE last month "added another party-ready property to his real estate portfolio," buying the Encino, Calif., home of singer MARC ANTHONY for $2.425M. The Mediterranean-style house "is highlighted by indoor-outdoor bars, a billiard room, a home theater, a wine room and a resort-style backyard" with a pool house, a gazebo and a fire pit across the nearly half-acre grounds. The home in '13 sold for $2.225M. McGee's purchase "comes roughly seven months after he paid $800,000 for an amenity-filled unit at the Panorama Towers in Las Vegas" (LATIMES.com, 5/6)....Bucks coach JASON KIDD "sold his sprawling Hamptons mansion" on Long Island for $7.1M after buying the home in '12 for $5M. His asking price for the "5,500-square-foot manse on two acres" was $6.795M (N.Y. POST, 5/5)....CBS NFL analyst TONY GONZALEZ "sold his Santa Barbara-inspired estate in Huntington Beach" for $6.3M. The 6,000-square-foot home is "located in a guard-gated community" and "includes a five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom main house, a guesthouse, a pool and spa and multiple entertainer’s patios on about three-quarters of an acre" (LATIMES.com, 5/1)....Dodgers CF ANDRE ETHIER is "buying a log cabin" for $443,412. The 3,500-square-foot cabin retreat sits on 10 acres of land in Overgaard, Ariz. (LATIMES.com, 5/7)....A five-bedroom Chicago-area house that once belonged to former NHLer BRENT SOPEL "has gone under contract after being listed most recently" for $1.5M (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/7).
