The Univ. of Colorado on Friday unveiled new football uniforms, including a "dark steel gray option of jerseys, pants and helmet that became a part of the CU color palette" in '07, according to Kyle Ringo of the Boulder DAILY CAMERA. CU revealed "three jerseys, four pants and four helmet options." The football team "now has an all-white road uniform, including a white helmet, which wasn't previously available for games in which the players chose to wear all-white uniforms." The gray and the white jerseys "feature black numbers and letters with a black emblem on the helmets." Each uniform retains the "traditional Colorado stamped across the front and each features a new number font with a contrasting layered outline, part of which glows in the dark." The away and alternate jerseys have "texture within the uniform numbers that is reminiscent of the texture of the Flatiron rocks that overlook Boulder from the mountains above the town and campus." The helmets "now have a larger version of the team's stampeding buffalo logo." CU football coach Mike MacIntyre's motto also "has been incorporated into the uniforms." MacIntyre "asks his players to be uncommon on and off the field." The word "uncommon" is "embroidered on the back, inside collar of the jerseys serving as a reminder to players each time they put it on." While no alums were consulted, MacIntyre said that "special care was taken not to stray too far from the traditional CU brand" (Boulder DAILY CAMERA, 5/2).
