Senators' Bryan Murray Intends To Return Next Season As He Keeps Fighting Cancer

Senators GM Bryan Murray said that he "has no plan to retire," despite battling Stage 4 colon cancer, according to Bruce Garrioch of the OTTAWA SUN. Murray at his end-of-the-year presser said, "I've talked to the doctors, I've talked to my family, I've talked to ownership and if my health holds up and everything I feel I can keep doing this job and it's better than sitting on the couch at home." Garrioch reports Murray "gave consideration to stepping aside," but he was "buoyed by the way the Senators came back from a 14-point deficit down the stretch to make the post-season." Murray added that Senators Owner Eugene Melnyk "has committed more money to the budget for next season." The Senators already have 18 players "under contract" at $57M in cap space for the '15-16 season (OTTAWA SUN, 4/30). The CP's Lisa Wallace noted the "first order of business for Murray" this offseason is signing coach Dave Cameron to a contract extension (CP, 4/29).
