ADWEEK's Lauren Johnson reported Sonic Drive-In yesterday launched an ad campaign starring Thunder F Kevin Durant, with 15- and 30-second spots that "will run on TV, online and on social media" through August. The first spot plays off Sonic's familiar "Two Guys" format and takes place at a Sonic Drive-In location. In a "longer ad, set in a gym, Durant takes on the two guys in basketball." The ads "promote two new flavors of Sonic Slushes made with Nerds candies" (ADWEEK.com, 4/27).

ON BENDED KNEE: Philly Pretzel Factory CEO & co-Founder Dan DiZio said when the company heard last week the Eagles were going to sign QB Tim Tebow the company “sent a whole bunch” of the “Tebowing” pretzels to the Eagles facility “just as a welcome to Tim Tebow.” But the “magical power of social media caught on and it just exploded.” DiZio called the attention it created "amazing" and said it "just shows how much power he has” (“Varney & Company,” Fox Business, 4/27).

MOTOR MOUTH: NASCAR driver Danica Patrick yesterday appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” to discuss her relationship with Aspen Dental on a campaign to “raise awareness for healthy mouths.” Patrick: “This healthy mouth movement was an idea and the other part of the idea was having a mouth mobile that was basically a dentist's office on wheels that went all around the country and gave free oral care and they gave over a million dollars in free oral care last year” (“Morning Joe,” MSNBC, 4/27).
