Talk About A Hot Market: Flames Merchandise Flying Off The Shelves Amid Playoff Run

The sale of Flames jerseys "has skyrocketed despite hefty price tags" since the team clinched its first appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in six years, according to Laura Booth of the CALGARY SUN. Calgary Sports & Entertainment Dir of Retail Brent Gibbs, whose company operates four FanAttic shops in Calgary, said the average sale "is probably triple or quadruple what we sell per game ... compared to the regular season." Booth reports rookie LW Johnny Gaudreau's No. 13 is "topping the list" of the most popular jerseys, followed by C Sean Monahan, D Mark Giordano, D T.J. Brodie and C Jiri Hudler. Jerseys are not the "only items leaving store shelves shortly after arriving," as car flags, banners, red T-shirts and hats "are just as popular." The Flames lead the Canucks 3-2 in their first-round playoff series, and Gibbs predicted that sales "will continue to soar if the Flames keep winning" (CALGARY SUN, 4/24).
