Luck, Romo Join Manning Brothers To Promote DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket

DirecTV on Thursday signed Colts QB Andrew Luck and Cowboys QB Tony Romo to multiyear deals to endorse its NFL Sunday Ticket package. The pair will join Broncos QB Peyton Manning and Giants QB Eli Manning in a variety of PR, advertising and marketing activations to promote the satellite TV provider's exclusive subscription service (DirecTV). The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Steven Perlberg cited marketing experts as indicating that Luck "could appeal to younger fans," while Romo "has the benefit of representing 'America's Team,' whose fandom stretches beyond just the Dallas market." DirecTV said that the four QBs cover "almost all regions of the country between them." Peyton Manning has been a spokesperson for the company since '99, and Eli since '06. DirecTV Senior VP/Marketing Alex Kaplan said they are both "locked up for years to come" (WSJ.com, 4/23).
