The task force seeking to build a new football stadium in St. Louis told key NFL owners this week it expected to have its plan set by the early to late fall. St. Louis Sports Commission Chair Dave Peacock, who also is the co-Chair of the stadium task force, unveiled more detailed stadium plans to the six key NFL owners and league staff, describing the proposed venue as modular, meaning it could be adapted and changed to suit different needs and events. The next big step for the task force is securing the $400M of public funds the plan calls for (the remainder of the estimated $985M would come from the team and club seat fees). The number one revenue source idea for the public, Peacock said, is extending the bonds on Edward Jones Dome, the current home of the Rams. The bonds expire in '21. That proposal is still winding its way through the political forces in the state. "We need to get financing from the public locked down," he said. The task force was appointed by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, who supports extending the bonds. Rams Owner Stan Kroenke wants to build a stadium in Inglewood, Calif. Rams Exec VP/Football Operations & COO Kevin Demoff attended the presentation, though Kroenke declined a league invitation to attend. During radio interviews Thursday in St. Louis, Demoff praised the task force plan, but also said building a stadium was about more than flashy pictures. Peacock raised those comments, saying the task force is well beyond that stage and presented a significant level of detail, right down to how much leg room seats would have.
