MLB Facility Notes: K.C. Star Calls On Aramark To Serve Properly Prepared Food

A K.C. STAR editorial states Royals fans "should be able to assume that what they are eating" at Kauffman Stadium has been "correctly prepared and won’t leave them with anything worse than a case of indigestion." But unfortunately, Aramark "has had a questionable record on that issue." The concessionaire's officials "say they strive to serve properly prepared food," but they "add their job is challenging, given the quantity of sales." The editorial: "It is their job to do it right." City health officials "should continue to closely monitor the conditions at the complex" (K.C. STAR, 4/23).

GREENS MONSTER: In Boston, Colneth Smiley Jr. notes Fenway Farms, the Red Sox' rooftop garden, "offers environmental benefits to fans, improving the surrounding air quality and insulating the section of the park below the garden." Besides "creating a bounty of vegetables including broccoli, carrots, kale, peppers and tomatoes," Fenway Farms will also serve as a "tool to teach wellness and healthy eating habits to local students" (BOSTON HERALD, 4/23).

HERE'S THE PITCH: USA TODAY's Nate Scott writes Yankee Stadium is "surprisingly intimate" for NYC FC home games, despite being the "wrong shape for a soccer venue." The soccer playing area is "packed into the outfield and reaches just to the pitching mound, which is flattened down for every game." Fans in the outfield bleachers "hang just over the field." The supporters’ section, located in the left-field bleachers, "is loud and still figuring out what it means to be a supporters’ section." Yankees Stadium "feels like" N.Y. (USA TODAY, 4/23).
