Buyers & Sellers: Rex Ryan Among Coaches Selling Homes From Areas Of Former Teams

Bills coach REX RYAN is among a quartet of recently let-go football coaches to sell their houses this week. Ryan sold his Colonial Revival home in Summit, N.J., for $2.6M -- a "very healthy $400,000 more than the listing price." The five-bedroom, five-bath house was listed at $2.2M in February and sold in late March. Ryan paid $2.25M for the home in '09, when he became the Jets coach. Three of the bedrooms "have en-suite bathrooms," and there is an eat-in kitchen, a family room and office with built-in bookshelves, a rec room, an exercise room that "could be converted to a sixth bedroom, and a patio with an outdoor fireplace" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 4/15)....Ravens offensive coordinator MARC TRESTMAN "sold his six-bedroom, 5,200-square-foot mansion" outside Chicago for $3.35M a few months after losing his job as coach of the Bears (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 4/16)....Saints assistant and former Raiders coach DENNIS ALLEN "sold his home" in Alamo, Calif., for approximately $3.6M, receiving $126,000 more than his asking price. The 5,336-square-foot house "sits on slightly more than an acre" (LATIMES.com, 4/16)....Youngstown State coach BO PELINI, formerly with Nebraska, has a pending sale on his 5,500-square-foot house in southwest Lincoln, which "had recently been listed for sale at $965,000" (OMAHA.com, 4/15).

REALTOR ROUNDUP: Ducks C RYAN GETZLAF has "purchased an ocean-view home" in Newport Beach for $6.1M. Located within the Cameo Shores enclave, the 5,200-square-foot Traditional-style home has a family room with a wet bar, four bedrooms and five bathrooms, in addition to a living room and formal dining room with "unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean." An ocean-facing terrace "extends off of the home’s main level" (LATIMES.com, 4/13)....Flames G JONAS HILLER has "sold his home in Newport Beach" for $4.85M after putting the home on the market last fall for $5.25M. He paid $4M for the 2,283-square-foot "custom beachfront contemporary" in '10, which has a chef's kitchen, a breakfast bar and a living room that "opens to the patio through bi-folding doors" (LATIMES.com, 4/15)....ESPN Radio 1000 Chicago's TOM WADDLE has paid $2.15M for a five-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot house in Lake Forest, Ill. two weeks after selling a home in the same town to new Bears coach JOHN FOX for $3.3M (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 4/13)....Basketball HOFer LARRY BIRD has "re-priced, albeit with a relatively small $200,000 cut," his Naples, Fla., home. Bird in '13 decided to sell the 6,000-square-foot house after he "realized his Pacers' front-office duties wouldn't give him much time in Florida" and originally listed it at $4.8M (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 4/11)....NFL Giants DE JASON PIERRE-PAUL has listed his Boca Raton home for $2.1M (N.Y. POST, 4/13)....Former tennis player JAMES BLAKE has three houses for sale: a two-bedroom townhouse in Santa Monica for $1.595M, a 2,933-square-foot house in the Fairfield Beach area of Connecticut for $799,000 and a 7,067-square-foot home in Westport, Conn., for $3.595M (LATIMES.com, 4/11)....Lakers G KOBE BRYANT "is under contract" to sell his L.A.-area home for what is "expected to set a price record for the Pelican Ridge community;" it is currently listed at $6.45M (LATIMES.com, 4/16).
