Carson, Inglewood Stadium Reps Meet With NFL; St. Louis Task Force Presenting In N.Y.

Reps of proposed stadium projects in Carson and Inglewood met with NFL execs Thursday as the "competition to return the league" to the L.A. area continued, according to Farmer, Fenno & Logan of the L.A. TIMES. NFL Exec VP/Business Ventures Eric Grubman "attended both meetings," which included a session with officials from the Chargers, Raiders and city of Carson that "lasted about 40 minutes in downtown L.A." Carson City Councilman Albert Robles said that Grubman "explained the league's process regarding the rival proposals," adding that the tone of the discussion "was positive." The Carson City Council on Tuesday will "take up a ballot initiative to authorize" the privately financed, $1.7B project. Robles "expects the competition between the Carson and Inglewood stadium concepts to heat up in the coming weeks and months." Robles: "It's going to get a little more personal. They're in front right now. If Carson moves ahead, I anticipate that they'll start lobbing claims." Farmer, Fenno & Logan report Grubman earlier Thursday "met jointly" with Inglewood Mayor James Butts Jr. and reps of the Rams to discuss their proposed $1.86B privately funded stadium (L.A. TIMES, 4/17). In California, Scott Reid notes the St. Louis stadium task force has been "invited to make a presentation to the NFL next week" at the league’s N.Y. HQ as both Missouri and NFL officials "stress a sense of urgency needed in local efforts to keep the Rams in St. Louis." St. Louis stadium consultants Dave Peacock and Bob Blitz will "meet with league officials" and the six NFL owners who make up the league's L.A. committee (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 4/17).
