Yesterday the Green Bay Packers partnered with one of the worldwide leaders in providing digital video solutions, VITEC. They will be given the task of providing high-definition content to the large LCD TVs at Lambeau Field. The new partnership will allow fans throughout the arena to take in ultra-low latency IP streaming from over 600 different screens at the stadium.

In an attempt to improve the game day experience for fans, the Packers chose to work with VITEC’s technologies for their cost-efficient combination of low latency streaming video, and flexible customizable design. This unique one-two punch gives them the ability to support and further develop and enhance the EZ TV System, VITEC’s very own system, which allows the user to deliver game, event, informative and advertorial content thanks to the modules that each IPTV solution is equipped with.

This is all possible via set-top boxes that provide central channel management, volume, and power control. Video operations are made very simple as the administrators at Lambeau Field can now control which TV shows which channel at any given time.

Eli Garten, vice president of product management at VITEC was optimistic about the partnership with one of the NFL’s most historic franchises. “VITEC is quickly becoming a solution leader for professional and college stadiums and arenas, and the [Packers] are a perfect example of how sports arena A/V groups can adapt VITEC’s open-architecture IPTV and signage system to their specific workflows.”

With every team looking to give fans more reasons to attend a game, little things like this can go a long way in enhancing a fan’s game day experience, even with one of the most passionate fan bases in the league.
