Coyotes Put Radio Analyst Nick Boynton On Leave Of Absence Following Arrest At Casino

The Coyotes on Thursday placed radio analyst Nick Boynton "on a leave of absence" after he was "leveled with a host of charges ... following an overnight incident at a Buffalo casino," according to Sarah McLellan of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Buffalo Police spokesperson Michael DeGeorge said that Boynton was "charged with assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and obstruction of government administration in connection with the situation." McLellan notes the incident happened at approximately 1:45am ET Thursday morning. DeGeorge said that Boynton "became abusive with patrons and security at the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, damaged casino property and 'at one point did bite the hand of an officer who was attempting to subdue him.'" Boynton, who joined the Coyotes' broadcast team prior to this season following an 11-season NHL playing career, "remains in police custody at the Erie County Medical Center" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 3/27). In Buffalo, Lou Michel cited police sources as saying that Boynton was "so drunk ... they decided to wait until the Friday morning session of Buffalo City Court to take him there for arraignment" (BUFFALONEWS.com, 3/26).
