Warriors Co-Owner Says Team Would Be Open To Sharing New Arena With Sharks

Warriors co-Owner Joe Lacob said the team has talked to the Sharks about sharing the Warriors' planned arena in S.F., but admitted he did not "see that happening." Appearing on CSN Bay Area's "Yahoo Sports Talk Live," Lacob said, "We do talk to the Sharks. They have their own situation, they have to evaluate that. Our building is honestly being built for basketball No. 1 and for concerts No. 2. It will be able to accommodate hockey, but that's not the major goal of it." He said the Sharks "have a great home in San Jose" with SAP Center, adding, "I think they're happy, to be honest with you." But Lacob added, "Could it happen? You never know. You never want to say never" ("Yahoo Sports Talk Live," CSN Bay Area, 3/18). CSNBAYAREA.com's Kevin Kurz wrote more likely than the Sharks moving to S.F. is the franchise "relocating their AHL team" to the Warriors' new arena. The Sharks' AHL team will begin play at SAP Center this fall, but "that may not be a long-term arrangement." SAP Center opened in '93 but already will be tied "for the fourth-oldest NHL venue" at the start of the '15-16 season (CSNBAYAREA.com, 3/18).
