Pacers Game Ratings On FS Indiana Down 35% From Last Season, But Still 8th In NBA

The Pacers have seen game ratings on FS Indiana drop 35% compared to last year at this time, which is the "third biggest TV ratings decline" among NBA teams, according to Anthony Schoettle of the INDIANAPOLIS BUSINESS JOURNAL. Only the T'Wolves (54%) and Nuggets (53%) "have seen steeper declines." But there are some "mitigating circumstances" for the Pacers. The Pacers "doubled their TV ratings last year" compared to '12-13, with last season also marking the RSN's best numbers since '04-05. The team this year also has been "decimated by injuries and got off to a slow start on the court." But FS Indiana officials said that there is "reason for optimism," as the Pacers "still have the eighth highest local TV rating of all NBA teams" -- a 2.9 local rating in Indianapolis through 56 games. The Pacers also are "still on target to have their second highest TV ratings in the last nine years." FS Indiana Senior VP & GM Jack Donovan said, "Fans have stuck with this team through the injuries." RSN officials added that they are "confident" fans will continue tuning in "as the Pacers push for a playoff spot" (IBJ.com, 2/25).
