Facility Notes

In Ft. Lauderdale, Craig Davis writes Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross "can take credit for following through on his promise to modernize" Sun Life Stadium and "make it competitive again for attracting Super Bowls, college football championships and other marquee sports and entertainment events." After "failing to secure public funding to help pay for renovations, Ross agreed to pay" for the $400M makeover. He said that he hopes to "get some of that back through a new state program" that pays up to $3M a year for improvements to sports venues "through a fund from sales tax money generated at stadiums." Ross said that the Univ. of Miami, which shares the stadium with the Dolphins, "did not have input on the renovation plan" (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 1/20).

PROPERTY MANAGEMENT: In Milwaukee, Don Walker reported Bucks reps are "looking at property near the BMO Harris Bradley Center as possible pieces of a development beyond a new arena." Sources said that while the franchise "still appears to be focusing on land north of the BMO Harris Bradley Center for the arena, representatives are looking at two other pieces of property nearby" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/17).

SPA TREATMENT: In Ft. Lauderdale, Arlene Satchell reports PGA National Resort & Spa -- home of the PGA Tour Honda Classic -- "will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation that will include upgrades to its spa, dining and health and fitness offerings." The upgrades "are slated to be completed later this year" (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 1/20).
