Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard Introduces Signature Shoe At Launch Event In Portland

Trail Blazers G Damian Lillard yesterday officially introduced his first signature shoe, the D Lillard 1, during a "glittering launch event" at adidas' North American HQ in Portland, according to Allan Brettman of the Portland OREGONIAN. The shoe will go on sale on Feb. 6 and retail for $105, which "in this day and age ... is among the lowest for an NBA player's signature shoe." Lillard said that he "specifically requested the shoe not include the brand's proprietary insole cushioning 'Boost,' to keep the price down." He will wear the "low-cut sneakers during a game for the first time" tonight against the Clippers. Brettman reports the shoe will initially be available at adidas and Foot Locker locations in black, and additional colors "will launch throughout the year." Customized colors "can be ordered" later this month for $125. The shoe "features the new Damian Lillard logo," which is his initials "fusing together to create" the letter "o." On the left side of the logo "is a wing made up of three stripes, a nod to the nickname of his group of closest friends and family, the 'Fly Guyz.'" The logo "is featured prominently on the heel of the left shoe, while 'Dame' is written across the tongue of the right shoe." The insole of each "features a unique rap lyric written by Lillard that relates to each colorway" (Portland OREGONIAN, 1/14).
