Bucks Survey Milwaukee Residents To Gain Insight On Proposed Multipurpose Arena

The Bucks are "surveying local and regional residents, corporations, universities and some ticketholders to help the franchise make what it calls 'informed decisions' involving a proposed multipurpose arena," according to Don Walker of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The club, in consultation with Convention, Sports & Leisure Int'l, sent out a letter to potential respondents that notes a new arena "is under consideration" in downtown Milwaukee, but it states that "no decisions about the arena have been made and that seating concepts and pricing questions are 'purely hypothetical.'" The Bucks "have not yet found a site for a proposed arena, though they are focusing on land largely controlled by the Bradley Center Sports & Entertainment Corp." Respondents to the survey who do not purchase Bucks tickets "are asked why" and then "asked to select from a list of reasons, including arena condition or location; team performance; the cost of parking and concessions; the cost of tickets; no convenient mode of transportation; and traffic" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 12/25).

KING OF THE HILL: In N.Y., Kevin Randall in a front-page piece noted when co-Owners Marc Lasry and Wes Edens purchased the club last April, they were "looking for a more elusive edge." The team subsequently hired Dan Hill, a "facial coding expert who reads the faces of college prospects and NBA players to determine if they have the right emotional attributes to help the Bucks." The club was "so impressed with Hill’s work" before the '14 draft that they "retained him to analyze their players and team chemistry throughout this season." Hill employs psychologist Paul Ekman’s "widely accepted FACS, or Facial Action Coding System, to decipher which of the 43 muscles in the face are working at any moment." Seven core emotions "are identified: happiness, surprise, contempt, disgust, sadness, anger and fear" (N.Y. TIMES, 12/26).
