Media Notes

In London, Alex Spence noted Twitter suspended Bleacher Report UK's account after a complaint by the EPL that it was displaying unauthorized "video clips of football games." Twitter "temporarily removed Bleacher Report UK from its social media platform because the Premier League said it was sharing Vine snippets of football games to which it did not own the video rights" (LONDON TIMES, 12/20).

TODAY, JUNIORS: In Toronto, Raju Mudhar writes TSN "has received -- and deserves -- credit for building the hockey showcase" that is the World Junior Hockey Championships "into what it is today." The competition "has become a holiday tradition -- the Canadian equivalent of U.S. college football bowl season." Nine of the 15 biggest audiences in TSN history "were for world junior games," topped by the '11 final at 6.2 million. After losing Canadian NHL media rights to Rogers, the World Junior Championships are "even more important to TSN" (TORONTO STAR, 12/23).

ON THE DOWN LOWE: NBC Sports Group EPL studio host Rebecca Lowe said of adjusting to a U.S. audience, "You have a certain section of the viewers -- and it's a large section -- who are as knowledgeable as the viewers back home in England. I don't want to talk down to them. But then you've got the section who are new and have never really watched football. What I try to do is explain without talking down. It's not easy. It's something I think a lot about" (L.A. TIMES, 12/21).
