Facility Notes

In Boston, Greg Walsh reported the Red Sox plan to "squeeze another 150 to 200 seats" into Fenway Park this winter. The EMC and State Street Pavilion levels on the left-field side of the ballpark "will be extended, adding about 100 seats." A new party suite "will sit adjacent to the Green Monster with an additional 35 seats, and above it, a private outdoor group space, the Lansdowne Pavilion, will host another 10 to 16 fans." The Budweiser Right Field Roof Deck "will also see improvements, including an expanded bar and seating areas with wait staff." Enhanced WiFi services "are also being planned" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/9).

KEEP DREAMING: In New Jersey, John Brennan notes American Dream Meadowlands developer Triple Five yesterday "backed away from a claim about taking over the adjacent Izod Center." The four-page "Monthly Status Update" distributed to a number of real estate brokers at a shopping center conference in N.Y. this week "refers to an intention to 'Re-brand Izod Center to American Dream Center in partnership with the owners of Barclays Center & Live Nation'" (Bergen RECORD, 12/10).

SAY CHEESE: In Green Bay, Richard Ryman reports the city's redevelopment authority yesterday "accepted a proposal to sell plaza naming rights" to the Packers for $200,000. Tentatively known as Packers Plaza, the outdoor area "would abut Main Street in the spot previously occupied by Coaches Corner restaurant." In addition to the Packers logo "emblazoned in the pavement, the plaza's preliminary design includes outdoor lighting, landscaping, benches and cafe tables." It would "be on the northwest corner of Main and Adams streets." The naming-rights deal "is for 20 years" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 12/10).

SLOPE STYLES: The AP's Brady McCombs reported Vail Resorts is "announcing plans to build a high-speed gondola this summer that would connect its newly acquired Utah ski resort to another it owns to create what the company says will be the largest ski area" in the U.S. Vail announced the plans Monday as part of $50M in "investments at Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort." It is "expected to be ready" by the '15-16 ski season (AP, 12/8).
